My name is Amy Hamlyn and I make all kinds of stuff. I don’t think I’ll ever stop picking up new skills. I went to school for ceramics at Herron School of Art and Design where I was extremely fortunate to have a mentor that encouraged me to “use what works” and that unlocked my imagination to explore surface applications and mix mediums that were FAR from what would be considered traditional ceramics.

After graduating I was awarded an artist residency from NCECA that took me to Jingdezhen, PRC. This unreal opportunity changed my life and lets just say I got good at defending what I make and why I make it while immersed in the traditions of porcelain.

Since then I have worked installing large scale retail display made from a variety of materials from plywood to thousands of panettone. I’ve picked up skills and techniques along the way that continue to inform my creating.

As of lately, I have become interested in repurposing materials from thrifting and salvaging. This has lead me to creating more functional clothing and accessories. Adding depth and character to wearable and decorative objects brings me so much joy!! I made that :) There’s only one and only one person could’ve made it!
